A rough day that ended with some great news

An update from Jamie and Dane...
Dane had a rough night and wasn't able to go to sleep until 4am.  He ended up having 4 foot soaks and a bath to help the tickling feeling in his feet and legs.  Mom started him on his 100 cupboards book series while he soaked.  With lots of nausea meds one finally worked at 4am.  Yay!  He slept until 9 and then got up to have a shower and be fresh smelling for the day (this is very important to him).  The motion of taking a shower and getting dressed did make him quite queasy and he did throw up some, but hopefully that will be it for today.  He fell back to sleep until 2:30pm this afternoon!  He started his chemo today at noon.  At the moment he is doing crossword puzzles.  We hope to have a mild afternoon and evening.

They best news yet is that he tested negative for the mutant gene that would have caused him to need more extensive treatments (such as a bone marrow transplant).  We are so excited to have some good news to lift us!!

  1. Oh Daner! I love ya so much! I would do ANYTHING to make this go away...I was encouraged by the news today about the genetic code and how the chemotherapy seems to be doing it's job. I am praying for you constantly, as are hundreds of people. After we get this website out, there will be even more! Lean on the holy ghost, he is there to comfort you and help you, pray for his help. I love you buddy!

  11. My son Jake is friends with Dane in class. I can't tell you how upsetting this news has been. I just read the blog, as it was forwarded by Lori Conrad, and I really cried my eyes out. I can't imagine the fear and pain your whole family must be experiencing. I am so sorry and I hope everything turns out for the best.

I posted the link to the blog on my Facebook page, so hopefully it reaches many and there is more help given. If Dane needs any cheering up from friends, then he can call Jake on his cell at 720-209-8974. All our hearts go out to you and your family. We are thinking of Dane and hoping for the very best outcome.

  13. I don't know your family but my friend linked to your blog on facebook and I was so touched by little Dane's story. I know that if I were ever in your position I would hope that any stranger who happened upon my blog for whatever reason would help spread the word, so I posted your button my blog. I'm so glad Dane won't need a bone marrow transplant!

My thoughts are with you, your family, and your sweet little boy. May the good news keep coming.
