HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANER!!!***!!!!****!!!!****!!!!

Today is Daner's birthday!  If you would like to please send him a care card.  These are so neat!  You can go to  thechildrenshospital.org and type 'care card' in the search box.  You will come to a page where you can pick a card.  Type in what you want to say and send it!  Then the nurse brings them to little Dane.  They are super fun so please feel free to do one any day, but especially today since it's his special day.

Thanks!!

LAST DAY OF the first round of CHEMO!!  Woot woot!  Dane woke up and his dad helped him get cleaned up for his special day.  Mom was on her way with his birthday breakfast wish: Panera egg and cheese souffle and sliced strawberries with powered sugar.  He was really weak showering and it totally zapped any ounce of energy he had.  After he had gotten dressed he felt really nauseated, so the nurses brought the meds to fix that.  Mom showed up with his breakfast and a few gifts friends and family had sent ( I was so excited for him to eat a yummy breakfast and open his gifts), but after a bite of breakfast he decided he didn't feel good or up to gift opening so he napped and napped and napped and napped!  Around 3 pm he woke up ever so slowly, talked to family who sang happy birthday to him, (yay, a smile finally), Mom read him his email and cheer cards--so very cute!  He decided he would try some Oh's cereal, strawberries (from breakfast),  and chicken noodle soup hopeful to feel up to some hot wings later (yikes). He enjoyed watching Eregon and sippin' on some sprite.  Ahhh, just put the hot wing order in (wish Daner some luck!)
I will send the rest later :)

Daner relaxed and rested most of the day, had a visit from one of Mom's friends Heidi Staley and her sweet daughter Rachel and they brought him lots of love and sweet birthday treasures.  After looking at some cool birthday gifts friends and family had sent he finally felt well enough to open some.  The first was a gift from his Aunt Shannon and Uncle Steve, Nyah and Erika which had some great new jammies and his favorite a good luck clover from his little cousin who is 4.  We hung it on the wall right away.  He also opened a cool lego set from our good friends the Runyons and we started to build it right away.  He was finally starting to enjoy this special birthday day!  By dinner time he was ready to move around.  Grandad sat with Daner while Daddy, Nana, Halee, Mommy, and Gigi sanitized and decorated for his family birthday party.  We had it in the cafeteria area in a quiet reserved area.  The nurses unhooked Dane from his iv tower so he could be free of cords for his party.  He was wheeled down to reserve all his energy for visiting.  When he arrived he had some Aunts and Uncles and both sets of grandparents there and just a few of his older cousins.  Two of his Uncles that live in other states were there via skype and we all sang a few happy birthday songs to him and had cake and ice cream.  Only a bite or two agreed with Daner's stomach.  Daner enjoyed visiting with everyone and his long distance family on skype.  His Scout troop 95 skyped him and sang happy birthday to him.  Daner loved chatting with his school and church friends in the troop.  They had made him a really fun blanket, which he wished he had brought down with him because he was chilled, but it was waiting for him when he got back to the room.  He enjoyed opening some fun gifts from the family (even the new IPAD--WOW!!) but then he felt really sick and we hurried him back to his room.  Mom got him all comfy and had the nurses get his stomach settled- he had really bad heartburn.  While he was trying to calm the tummy Nana and Papa came and delivered his cousin COLE!  They were so cute with each other and Cole was so excited to give him his birthday gifts he had picked out for him with his own money-Tron Legacy Blueray!!  The boys were both so excited, but tummy trouble hindered their visit and everyone left to try to help Dane relax.   He was so worried he wouldn't be able to have his hot wings that were waiting for him on the couch, but after an hour or so and  stomach was calm, he did eat!  He loved every bite.  He visited with Mom and Dad, watched the cool video from his family in Virginia, read all the birthday cards from his Auburn hill primary friends, watched  a great video they made for him where they sang happy birthday to him and gave him sweet birthday wishes.  We also watched a video the church kids made at Christmas sharing their testimonies of Jesus Christ, that Dane was on sharing his testimony and reminded him of his strength.  We discussed how lucky he was to have so many behind him giving him strength, love and support.  Dad left and Mom snuggled Daner and watched Mrs.Doubtfire, Daner wasn't tired after sleeping all day.  I could hardly keep my eyes open and talked him into some sleep at 1am.

We so appreciate all those who are praying for Dane, sent him sweet cheer cards, gifts, emails and those that could visit with him on his special day.  You made it so great for him.  He told us he loves his birthdays more than Christmas, no pressure, and we just love each of you for making it a great day in the hospital!
